Workshop and Servicing.

A cycle should give many years of trouble free pleasure assuming a small amount of general routine maintenance is carried out

A cycle should give many years of trouble free pleasure assuming a small amount of general routine maintenance is carried out. This should also reduce the risk of any large repair bills when the cycle does come in for it's regular service.

  • Keep your tyres at the manufacturers recommended pressure.

  • Apply a good quality chain lubricant to your chain at regular intervals. Not only will this increase the lifespan of the chain but it will also reduce the wear on the sprockets and chain set, increasing their lifespan as well!

  • Check all nuts and bolts for tightness regularly and check the crank bolts for tightness EVERY ride.

  • Do not use a pressure washer to clean your bike, as the jet will get into the bearings and potentially remove the grease, increasing the potential for wear.

  • If you are unfortunate enough to have an accident on your bike, PLEASE get it checked out by a good specialist bike shop. There may be damage, which could cause you injury at a later date, which is not immediately obvious to you but which a good cycle mechanic may be able to spot.

  • Lubricate your cables with a light machine oil or specialist lubricant regularly to ensure the correct action of both your brakes and gears.

  • Check that you don't have any foreign materials lodged in your brake blocks. These can damage your rims.

IF YOU ARE AT ALL UNSURE ABOUT WHAT TO DO, JUST GIVE US A RING AND WE WILL GLADLY ADVISE YOU.

Servicing Menu.

Whilst a good proportion of what our workshop does is unique to the individual requirements of each repair we see, we operate a fixed menu servicing system for general routine servicing tasks. Details as follows

For individual repair jobs, we would ask that you bring your bike in for an assessment. We'll try to give you an accurate price for the required work at this point and keep you informed if our initial assessment is proved to be incorrect. Either way you'll know, at all stages of the repair, what we are doing and approximately how much it is going to cost.

NB. Please ensure your bike is clean before you bring it in. Our mechanics charge extra for working in mud!

Standard Service

We recommend this service to be carried out once every year. A good servicing routine for your bike, particularly if you use it regularly, would be to have a basic service in the Autumn and the full standard service at the end of the winter.
We spend more time looking at all the nooks and crannies on your bike.

£5 discount if you purchased your bike from us

  • Check and adjust brakes.

  • Check and inflate tyres.

Deluxe Service

We recommend this for the keen cyclist, to be carried out before and after the Winter period. Especially if you race, this will make your bike work like new again, and ensure that it is fully race-prepared and will not let you down. We generally spend three to three and a half hours carrying out this work.
