Shields Road is one of the riginal Newcastle, out-of-town shopping areas. The road itself is actually built along the course of Hadrians' wall, and sections of the wall can be seen at various points along it, including a newly excavated section not 100 yards from our front door! (the course of the wall runs immediately beneath our shop).

Getting to Shields Road is extremely simple.

Approaching from Newcastle City Centre,

Take the A187 off the A167(M).
The A187 is the second exit after crossing the Tyne Bridge if travelling from Gateshead, and is signposted for Wallsend.
Follow the A187 away from the City Centre through 3 sets of traffic lights until you come to a roundabout underneath the Metro railway bridge.
note There is a petrol station on your left at this point.
Turn left onto Shields Road.
We are 300m up Shields Road on your right hand side with parking available on street opposite the shop.

Approaching from A19 (North or South)

Leave A19 at the junction with A1058 at Silverlink and follow the A1058 toward Newcastle City Centre.
Leave the A1058 at the fifth exit, (signposted for Heaton and Walker) and turn left onto Chillingham Road.
Follow Chillingham Road until you reach a roundabout, then turn right, onto Shields Road.
Follow this to the next mini roundabout and then turn right onto Shields Road.
We are approximately 100 yards down on the left hand side.
