Who Are We?

Cycle centre is part of T. Hopkirk and son. We were established in 1936 by Thomas Hopkirk who sadly passed on early in 2001. It is a family run business with three generations of expertise in bicycles. We specialise in bikes and pride ourselves on our extensive range of cycling accessories. We make it our business to provide you with the best value for money at every price point.

Our team is highly trained and will give advice when needed on the best bike to suit your needs. Most of them cycle to work and only one of them owns a car! We all enjoy cycling in our leisure time and it not only keeps us fit and healthy, but also keeps us up to date about cycling for REAL people! We employ mothers, fathers, fair weather cyclists, women and men on our team. We are normal people and that's how we know what you will need when you're out there on 2 wheels. We are not all crazy mountain bikers who tear up the countryside and scare old ladies, Cycling is for regular people like us!

We care about cycling and want to make it enjoyable for as many people as possible. That's why we get involved in making cycling as accessible to as many people as possible.

• We helped to develop the Cycling Strategy for Newcastle City Council.
• We help leading manufacturers such as Raleigh and Emmelle to develop products to suit the needs of real people like you.
• We help to regenerate our local community through work with Newcastle City Council's regeneration committee and other groups.
• We assisted the BBC whilst making the popular Youth Culture show Ukool by providing simple biking tips and tricks for their program.
• We provide bicycles to the Clifford street police officers in Byker, Newcastle.
• We have provided support for local people involved in charity work such as the vietnam cycle challenge.
